2.7L 95mm Stroker Kit for BMW E30 M3 S14
Custom CP Pistons + Carrillo Connecting Rods + Billet 4340 Crankshaft Combo for BMW E30 M3 S14 2.7L
Our intention with our S14 stroker kit was to design a no compromise solution to increase stroke as much as possible in the OEM 2.3 liter block. We are now on our third iteration of this bottom end design. Our crankshaft is specifically designed by us for maximum clearance on the oil pump and block. We were unwilling to make compromises in rod length and as such this required that we design a custom rod for this application. Our rod is longer than the 2.5 liter EVO rod. Naturally this is difficult to accomplish when increasing stroke 8mm. We work with CP Pistons to design a custom piston that has the minimum safe compression height while still utilizing a 3 piston ring package and avoiding an oil support ring. While rod ratio is decreased over stock we are at the maximum rod length achievable which will decrease side loading of the piston compared to other stroker solutions on the market. We designed our kit to use a high quality coated Mahle-Clevite racing bearing which is both easily available and reasonably priced for those who will be replacing bearings often. It also allows us to customize rod bearing clearance anywhere between 1 to 3 thousandths depending on your requirements. Our rods and rod bolt package allow for maximum block clearance minimizing the need to clearance the block as much as possible with this level of stroke increase. We have found that when using the EVO block our kit doesn't require any block clearancing.
All the components in our kit, custom billet 4130 crankshaft, Carrillo rods, and CP Pistons are all made locally in California. We chose the best components we could get our hands on for this kit, we even choose highly optioned out CP pistons for our basic kit. The MX forging from CP allows pistons as big of a bore as 95mm to be lighter than some of the six cylinder pistons we use in our other BMW engines, our pistons are typically around 300 grams each depending on compression ratio. Common compression ratio pistons are kept in stock but custom pistons can be made as well for any compression ratio necessary for your application.

This kit includes:
- 4x Custom CP Forged Pistons with lightweight MX forging, Rings, wrist pins, spiral locks.
- 4x Custom 4340 Carrillo I-Beam Connecting Rods with ARP2000 Rod Bolts (or better). Carrillo rods are also available.
- 1X 95mm Stroke 4340 Billet Crankshaft. Weight: 34 lbs
This kit uses 2 compression rings. Unlike most 2.7 liter kits available from europe our kit was designed to fit the 2.5 EVO block without additional clearancing. It can also fit the 2.3 stock US block with about 1mm of clearancing. We are happy to assemble the bottom end for you at Lang Racing Development using either the BMW EVO block or the standard BMW S14 block. This bottom end is a great choice for those looking for increased torque numbers to be more competitive in power to weight ratio racing classes or even those who are looking for a great street motor with extra power.
Below is a comparison of our common 2.5 liter race engine running 13.1 compression ratio and 110 octane leaded racing fuel. The second graph is of our 2.7L kit using low compression 11.5 pistons and running 91 octane pump fuel. The race engine uses large cams and revs to 8500 rpm while our stroker engine is using 284/276 duration cams and is only working up to 7500rpm. You can see the increased area under the curve of the 2.7 liter engine.
